Frequently Asked Questions
Not at all. Our synthetic grass truly resembles the real thing. Our Thatched grass has two different types of fibers, a longer fiber that replicates blades of grass and a short, curly fiber that adds cushion and support to the longer fibers. Our infilled synthetic grass is actually combined with sand and recycled crumb rubber. The fibers are 1.5" to 2.5" long depending on the product. A unique blend of rubber crumb and sand is spread over the top of the synthetic grass. Both our Thatched Grass and Infilled Grasses look and feel just like natural grass.

Yes, Not only will your Arizona Luxury Lawns conserve our most precious asset and eliminate harmful pesticides and lawns waste which enter and fill our eco systems. Arizona Luxury Lawns is now eco friendly on a molecular level. Ford Automotive engineered the car made from Soy Beans now UTT has engineered the backing from the same material.
The backing on Arizona Luxury Lawns is in fact partly made from domestically grown soybeans. Called BioCel®, is made by Universal Textile Technologies, which has worked since 1999 to incorporate soy-based polymers into backings for artificial lawns and carpets.
According to UTT, soy-based polymers are polyurethane polymers in which a portion of the binding chemical compound (polyol) is derived from one renewable resource-the soybean plant. UTT uses soybean oil that is extracted from soybeans and then stabilized by removing gums and waxes. Finally it's converted into a polymer. This is the polymer that becomes a key part of the backing for Arizona Luxury Lawns Grasses.
The soy-based polymers used by UTT account for 10%-14% of the overall backing weight. In addition, UTT incorporates a significant percentage of recycled content, resulting in a backing that is 60%-70% "green" by weight. This is crucial for Arizona Luxury Lawns because the backing is the greatest weight of the product. Over time as the grass enters it's last stages of life, typical 20-25 years. The backing will actuall break down and not create such a load on our ever filling land fills.

No. Our fibers have a UV protection coating, UV stabilizer and can withstand the damaging affects of sun, heat, wind, snow and ice. We have synthetic putting greens and lawns that were installed in 1987 with no discernable signs of fading. Technically, the color will fade two Pantone® colors over a ten-year period, but it's really not noticeable to the naked eye.

Our turf comes with a limited 10-year warranty, but the actual life expectancy is 15-35 years depending on use.

An occasional brooming is recommended but not necessary. This will help stand the fibers up. Debris like leaves and twigs can be easily removed with a leaf blower. Remember to not place the blower's nozzle too close to the turf if you have one of our infilled grass products or the sand and rubber will be blown away along with the debris.

The existing sod must first be removed either by spraying a weed killer or be removed with a Sod-Cutter (available at a local rental store). Then a fine layer of crushed rock is laid down, smoothed over and compacted before the artificial turf is installed. (we recommend installing a commercial grade weed block.)

Drainage is very similar to natural grass. The turf backing has many perforated holes (or a porous fabric backing) that allow water to drain vertically into the ground below the turf. The drainage rate is an astonishing 40 gallons per hour per square foot.

No. Many of our landscape grasses were designed with both residential and commercial dog runs in mind. Pet urine is not a problem as it absorbs into the ground or evaporates. Other messes clean up in the same manner as natural grass. You may also spray the soiled area with a hose then simply brush the turf back into place. You can poor gasoline or bleach on your grass (although not recommended) and it will not change the color or characteristics of your lawn.

* When calculating the square footage for Arizona Luxury Lawns and your installation, please make note of the material widths. For example, Arizona Luxury Lawns products only comes in 15-foot widths. That means if you have an area that is 20' x 12', your price will be based on an area of 20' x 15' (because of the minimum width of the product, which creates some waste and requires additional cutting for this installation). Also remember that this grass has a "grain," so the grain must always be in the same direction. For more information regarding calculations, please contact our sales department.
** All installations include base material (1/4 minus), seaming tape, glue, infill material if required (you may upgrade to full rubber infill for an additional cost) and labor.
